CELTIC RHYTHMS ON FIRE

Audiences worldwide have been electrified by the contagious rhythms and sound of Irish dance music featured in such global sensations as “Riverdance” and “Lord of the Dance.”

Now, Celtic Rhythms On Fire , an energetic fusion of live Irish dance, music, and song, that has sold-out performances each year, returns to Nashville .

This groundbreaking show is produced and performed by the Nashville Irish Step Dancers (NISD), a local dance troupe.  The NISD, founded in 1990 by Chicago-native and champion dancer Mary Moran, has grown into an award-winning and nationally recognized dance powerhouse, which now boasts over 100 members.

Live local musicians and award-winning Celtic singers will collaborate with the dancers in a diverse program of traditional and original song and dance.

“Celtic Rhythms On Fire is a celebration of the rich and vibrant artistry of Irish dance and music, and, in a larger sense, the fiery spirit of the Irish culture and heritage,” Moran explains.

“The show features not only the more traditional elements – such as the jig, reel and hornpipe, but also explores more progressive styles of Irish dance and music.  The collaboration between the dancers, musicians and singers really results in a spirited lively interchange,” Moran says.  “And, of course, the audience is a big part of that – we have something for everyone and all age groups.  We have our own interpretations of ‘Cotton-Eyed Joe', ‘Riverdance', ‘Lord of the Dance', ‘Gettin' Jiggy With It', and the new kids/teens hit, ‘Nobody's Perfect', our Hannah Montana number.

The Nashville Irish Step Dancers have built an impressive resume of local and national exposure.  Notable appearances include Fan Fair, Fest De Ville, Summer Lights, A.M. Nashville, Talk of the Town, Crook and Chase, Primetime Country, nine appearances on the Grand Ole' Opry, and five with Celtic music legends The Chieftains .

Since 2000 NISD have won numerous Championship awards at the Southern Regional Irish Dance Competition & North American National Irish Dance Championships. We are very proud of the success our dancers experienced this Past December at the Southern Region Oireachtas held in Orlando , Florida . Our Teams gained top honors and Soloist shone, lead by 4 - 1 st Place Champions, 10 of our dancers qualified for Nationals and 4 for the very prestigious World Championships to be held in Philadelphia.

Proceeds from Celtic Rhythms On Fire will help these dancers to represent Nashville at the National Irish Dance Championships and the annual World Irish Dancing Championships.

Help us help our Dancers Dreams come true and see what makes NISD a leader of Irish Dance in Middle Tennessee!

A coupon for a free Irish Dance or music lesson will be included with each admission.
